My favorite thing about rice bowls and seasoned rice recipes is that you can try all sorts of toppings, ingredients, and seasonings. A well-rounded rice bowl has protein, from chicken to black beans, or a traditional arroz con gandules simmered with sofrito. And when I want something quick, I’ll throw together a chicken and rice skillet that always works. Rice is one of those ingredients that never lets me down.

These recipes include bowls with beans and vegetables, chicken and rice skillets, and a few that simmer a little longer to build more flavor. Some are quick weeknight meals while others take their time, but they all use rice as the base and make a meal on their own.
