  • 1 tbsp – Sazon – I love this sazon from Loisa – it’s organic, made with good ingredients, and salt-free. They also have an original sazon made with salt.
    • If you don’t have sazon, season with a tbsp of granulated garlic powder, paprika, and onion powder or salt.
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1/4 cup – of white wine vinegar or apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp – of avocado oil
  • 1 tsp Salt

  1. 1.5 lbs Boneless Skinless Chicken Thighs
  2. Seasoning
    • Sazon – Salt-Free – or sazon with salt.
    • Cumin Powder
    • White wine vinegar or apple cider vinegar
    • Salt

Variations

  • Chicken Thighs – You can make this recipe with bone-in or skin-on rather than skinless and boneless chicken thighs. If you’re making chicken thighs with bone-in, add 5 minutes to the cooking time. Air-fried chicken thighs with skin-on are also incredibly delicious.
  • Seasoning – rather than cumin powder or sazon, prepare this recipe with onion salt and garlic powder.
  • Avocado Oil – you can also use a mild oil other than avocado oil.
  • Topping – Top these air fryer skinless chicken thighs with creamy chimichurri sauce or authentic chimichurri for incredible layers of flavor. For a bit of spice, top with red pepper flakes.

Top Tips for the best boneless skinless chicken thighs

  • Season them well – the chicken will lose some flavor in the cooking process. I would typically use less than a tsp of salt. However, while cooking, the chicken will lose some of the salt. So feel free to be generous.
  • Coat the chicken with Oil before cooking – Oil will help crispen the chicken and achieve a golden brown.
  • Temperature – Set the air fryer to 390 degrees for 24 minutes for the perfect crisp and tender chicken. Adjust based on the size of the chicken thighs.
  • Place the chicken side by side rather than stacking – allowing the chicken to brown on both sides. If you have a smaller air fryer, cook in batches, or stack if needed. As they cook, the thighs will shrink, moving them around halfway through.
  • Vinegar or lemon juice – the acidity will add a bit of tanginess to the chicken. The chicken will cook through the acidity in the air fryer, giving it a deliciously mild tanginess.

FAQs

Can I make this recipe with a different cut of chicken? You can make chicken legs rather than chicken thighs. Depending on the thickness, you can make air fryer chicken cutlets, reducing the time. I’d recommend half the cook time if you have thin chicken cutlets.

The basket in my air fryer doesn’t allow my chicken to brown on the bottom. What can I do? Flip the chicken halfway through the cooking process, roughly ten minutes in, and continue cooking.

Can I make this air fryer boneless skinless chicken thighs in less time? Increase the temperature above 400 degrees if an air fryer can go that high. Some of the older air fryer models only go up to 390 degrees. Increase the heat, and reduce the time. Check on the chicken at least 10 minutes in.

Storage

Gently place the chicken in a glass container and seal it. Store in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. You can also freeze the chicken for up to a week.

Reheating

Reheat the chicken in the air fryer for just a couple of minutes or up to five minutes. Or place the chicken on a pan and heat it on the stovetop on medium heat for five minutes, until it’s warm through the middle of the chicken.

Ingredients
  

  • 1.5 lbs Boneless skinless chicken thighs
  • 1 tbsp Salt-Free Sazon
  • 1 tsp Cumin
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 cup White Wine Vinegar
  • 1 tbsp Avocado Oil

Instructions
 

  • Step 1
    Place the boneless skinless chicken thighs in a medium-sized bowl, add the sazon, cumin, salt, vinegar, and oil, and mix well. Make sure the chicken is well and evenly coated in all the seasoning.
  • Step 2
    Place the chicken thighs in the air fryer basket, and avoid stacking the thighs on top of each other.
  • Step 3
    Set the air fryer at 390 degrees for 20 minutes, depending on the size of the chicken thighs. If you have smaller chicken thighs, 20 minutes will be ideal. If you have medium-larger thighs, cook them for 22 minutes, and adjust as needed.
    The batch of chicken I made had small and medium-sized chicken thighs, so after 20 minutes, I removed the smaller pieces to avoid overcooking.
  • Step 4
    Serve topped with cilantro or your favorite sauce. Add red pepper flakes and squeeze lime or lemon juice on the chicken if you love a little kick.
