The Easiest Air Fryer Sweet Plantains

Delicious, sweet, and easy-to-make air-fried sweet plantains. They're a lighter version of the classic maduros recipe.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 Ripe Sweet Plantain
  • ¼ cup Avocado Oil
  • 1 pinch Salt Optional

Equipment

  • 1 Air Fryer
  • 1 Tongs
  • 1 Paring Knife
  • 1 Pastry Brush

Method
 

  1. Step One
    Slice the plantain skin lengthwise and remove the skin.
  2. Step Two
    Then, cut the plantains diagonally into plantain slices roughly 1 inch thick.
  3. Step Three
    Place the plantain slices in the air fryer basket in a single layer and brush with avocado oil.
    Air Fry them at 390 degrees for 15-20 minutes.
  4. Step Four
    ​Flip them once the bottom is golden brown, 7 minutes in.
    Using tongs, remove the maduros from the air fryer basket and serve.

Top Tips For The Best Air Fried Maduros

  • Grab the best-ripened plantains for the sweetest plantains.
  • Lightly brush the plantain slices with oil that can handle high temperatures. Avocado oil is perfect.
  • The ideal temperature for air-frying sweet plantains is around 390 degrees Fahrenheit. If the temperature is too high, the sugar in the plantain burns quickly.
  • For the sweet plantains to cook correctly, place them in a single layer.
