Sazón-Spiced Miso Butter Salmon (25-minutes)

Ingredients
  

  • 4 oz (4) Salmon Fillets or (2) large 8 oz fillets
Sazón-Spiced Miso Butter
  • 1/2 tsp Salt-free Sazon
  • 1 tbsp Miso Paste
  • 1/2 cup Cherry Tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup Fresh Cilantro
  • 1 Lemon Juice and zest.
  • 2 tbsp Unsalted Butter

Equipment

  • 1 12 inch Preseasoned Cast Iron Skillet
  • 1 Cutting Board
  • 1 Pairing Knife or Chef Knife
  • 1 Small Bowl
  • 1 Rubber Spatula
  • 1 Zester
  • 1 Citrus Juicer

Method
 

  1. Step One:
    Slice the cherry tomatoes in half and add to your small mixing bowl
    Clean and rinse the cilantro. Keep the leaves and tender stems.
    Zest and juice the lemon.
    Prepare the miso mixture.
    Mix the miso paste, lemon juice, lemon zest, butter, tomatoes, and cilantro in a small bowl.

  2. Step Two:
    Rinse and pat the salmon dry.
    Be sure to season the salmon with salt on both sides generously.

  3. Step Three:
    Heat the seasoned cast iron skillet on medium heat, and add avocado oil.
    Allow the pan to get hot until the oil starts to simmer.

  4. Step Four:
    Place the salmon fillets in the pan, skin up. Pan-sear for four minutes on one side. Try not to touch it while searing.
    Carefully flip the salmon and place it skin-side down.

  5. Then, pour the miso butter mixture on the salmon to get that delicious umami and sazon flavor on your salmon.
    Cook it for roughly 4-5 minutes to get a beautiful sear, and that restaurant-style cook on the salmon.

  6. Just a quick tip – before taking out the salmon from the pan, spoon the miso butter mixture from the salmon onto the pan.
    Once you’ve taken out the salmon, go ahead and give the miso butter mixture a quick cook in the same pan for about 30 seconds.
    Doing so will help bring out the dish's flavors and make it even more delicious!

  7. Then generously add the deliciously cooked miso butter from the pan to the salmon. Then, sprinkle some thinly sliced green onion and chopped cilantro for a fresh pop of flavor.

Top Tips For The Best Pan Seared Salmon

Making pan-seared salmon is quite easy and delicious, but there are a few basic rules to ensure it turns out just right.

Pat The Salmon Dry.

It is easier to get a golden color on salmon when excess water is removed by patting it dry with a paper towel.

Season The Salmon.

Sprinkle on some salt right before searing.

Use A Preseasoned Cast Iron Skillet (12inch) And Avocado Oil.

Add avocado oil, a natural and high smoke point oil – perfect for high-temperature cooking, to the pan and ensure it’s set to medium heat before searing the fish.
You want to make sure the pan is hot to get a nice sear on the salmon.
