You can absolutely swap pine nuts for a different nut including walnuts, and almonds.

Is pest sauce low carb?

Basil is low-carb. However, nuts can increase the carbohydrate count so take caution.

  • 1 Food processor
  • 1 Ramekan


  • 1.25 ounce Fresh Basil
  • 1/4 tsp Sea Salt
  • 6 cloves Garlic
  • 6 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1/3 cup Pine Nuts
  • 4 tbsp Lemon Juice


  • Step 1
    Clean and rinse the fresh basil. Prep all the ingredients.
  • Step 2
    Add all ingredients to the food processor. Slowly pulse until finely chopped and turns into a creamy sauce.


This is an excellent veggie option. Pair it with a protein or salad and voila. 🙂
